Terms of Service

Last updated: October 13, 2026

1. What Permitame is

Permitame ("we", "us") provides building permit information to you and to AI applications you connect, drawn from published government sources. Answers include their sources, the date they were last reviewed and a verification status.

2. Not legal or professional advice

Permitame is informational only. It is not legal advice, does not replace the building department, and does not guarantee that a permit is or is not required. Permit rules change and local officials decide how they apply. Always confirm requirements with the building department that has jurisdiction before starting work. You are responsible for decisions you make using Permitame, including decisions made by AI applications acting for you.

3. Accuracy

We check each answer against the wording of its published sources and monitor those sources for changes, but sources can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and AI applications can misstate what Permitame returns. We do not warrant that information is accurate, complete or current. Please report errors to our support address.

4. Accounts

You need an account to use Permitame. Keep your sign-in email, connected apps and API keys secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Each account and each seat is for one person. On the Team plan, the subscriber may give seats to people in their own business, up to the number of seats on the plan, and is responsible for their use. An API plan account may be used by one company and its employees.

5. Plans, billing and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe and renew until cancelled. You can change or cancel a subscription anytime from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. A Project Pass is a single payment for a set number of lookups over a set period; it does not renew, and unused lookups expire when the pass ends. On the API plan, lookups beyond those included in the monthly fee are billed in arrears at the published per-lookup price. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing period. Only lookups that return information count toward a limit or a usage charge.

6. Fair use

Plans described as unlimited are subject to fair use: use by the person holding each seat in their own work, at up to 30 lookups per minute. Accounts exceeding 2,000 lookups in a month may be reviewed, and we may contact you about a plan that fits your use. You may not:

We may suspend or end accounts that break these rules.

API plan. On the API plan you may show individual Permitame answers to your own users inside your own product, as each answer is requested, as long as you keep its sources, verification status and disclaimer with it and don't present it as advice from a government agency. You may not store answers to build a dataset, or offer Permitame data as a feed or API of its own.

7. Public officials

We may give free access to verified government staff at our discretion. We may end free access at any time.

8. Intellectual property

Government sources remain public. Our selection, organization and presentation of the information, and the service itself, belong to us.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Permitame is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for fines, penalties, rework or lost profits arising from your use of Permitame, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these terms; we'll post the new version here and, for material changes, notify account holders by email. You may stop using Permitame at any time.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA.
